27 January 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 27th [January 1902]. Out with Emilia after lunch—& after tea I went to see Countess Brandolin who has just lost her husband whom we used to like very much. He died of rapid cancer. I anticipated a trying interview & I went feeling very choky but when I got there I found lots of people calling & the widow making society conversation. I know she was devoted to her husband & think him wonderful. | |
