25 August 1902 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Monday. 25th [August 1902]. I left Inwood & returned to town, & spent the week in making arrangements for my departure from England for Venice. Connie was in town & came pretty often to see me. Nela Du Cane came up on Thursday 28th to stay with me & to go with me abroad. On Sunday 31st I drove in the afternoon with Nellie to Hampstead to call on Baroness Burdett Coutts. We met her driving into town with her husband– They stopped their carriage & made us change vehicle—Mr B. Coutts getting into our hansom cab & Nell & I took a drive with the Baroness round the Hampstead Heath country & then went to her house & had a cup of tea before she sent us back to town in her brougham. On our leaving she kissed me kindly & bid God bless me.
