7 January 1903 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 7th [January 1903]. Signor Guggenheim called & talked long over the affairs of the Venezia Murano Co & read me letters &c. Nela & I went to tea at 4 with Baroness Reinelt at the Hotel Victoria & stayed till past 5 & on returning home had several visitors—then hurriedly dressed & went off to dine with the Prinseps in their lodging on the Zattere & the other guest was Mr Williamson. Tho’ so very rich the Prinseps enjoy being in this lodging with one servant who cooks (she is German), waits table, does housemaid & ladies maid & all—& very well she does it. We stayed till 10.30 talking—& Mrs P. played the piano to us magnificently. Came home tired out.
