10 August 1904 — Salce, Belluno
Wednesday. 10th [August 1904]. Carry & I went by train to Feltre at 11—there took a little carriage & drove up to S. Silvestro di Cart to see the Montalba family who have hired a charming villa in that lovely country. We eat our lunch in the train so as to lose no time eating there. We had a charming drive & found the Montalbas all well & happy. The villa is quite Italian, very simple but picturesque. The ladies had adorned the rooms prettily with garlands of wild flowers prettily put in corners & on window sills. We took a short walk to see their views—wh are lovely. They gave us a plentiful tea before we started to drive back to Feltre which we did about 4.30 & we got back to Belluno at 5.30. Mr Eden met us in the carriage & drove us back to Salce.
