Saturday. 12th November [1904]. Went over to London wh I reached at 10.30 & went straight to bed. It appears that Merthyr only took to his bed the last 36 hours & died painlessly. His wife nursed him to the last– He left me £500. It seems so odd not to be able to thank him & one cannot believe he is gone. | |
