25 June 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 25th [June 1905]. I went to morning service– I had invited Mr Montalba to lunch & he had accepted but he sent to excuse himself. Prof. Malagola came to see me & said he is leaving town tonight for 2 days. Out in gondola afternoon. To hospital & to see Mr Eden & consult over a letter Mr Montalba has received from the Bishop of Gib. Came home early. Iduna Bel. looked in to see me having her best clothes on having come from an audience of the Q. Mother—& very much pleased with it. I went at 7 with Baker to the service at the Sailor’s Inst: at which Dr van Someren expounded the Scriptures– Walked home with him & Mr Harston—& dined abt 9– Thundered all night.
