15 January 1906 — Allahabad
Monday. 15th [January 1906]. After lying in bed till quite late I got up to lunch. Mr Sarabji drove Nela to the Mela & took her into the crowd to see it in detail & I took a quiet drive with our hostess. Miss Mabel Waldegrave, Lord Radstock’s daughter is also staying in the house. At dinner I made the acquaintance of our host Sir John a pleasant Irishman. Lady J. is pretty but fearfully delicate looking. At times she looks so exhausted one thinks she must have some mortal desease. Their house is most beautifully kept & arranged & they have many curious & beautiful things in it.
