13 March 1906 — En route to Venice
Tuesday. 13th [March 1906]. Another long day at sea—perfectly calm—rather warmer than yesterday. We passed Socotra & it was a change in the monotony of the voyage to watch the cliffs & rocks as we passed. In the afternoon we passed the coast of Africa. The old French lady was out on deck & I spent an hour with her in the afternoon, hearing her tell of her former travels in Palestine & Asia Minor. In the evening there was an amateur concert & I remained to hear Miss Franks sing before I went to bed–
