23 November 1906 — Paris
Friday. 23rd [November 1906]. I left Paris by the 9.50 train. Had a perfectly calm passage & arrived at Charing X exactly at 5.12. Just as I was going off in a cab I found Blanche who carried me to 3 Savile Row in her brougham. Curiously eno’, just as we were leaving the station we came on Julia Du Cane who was going to take the train home to Ballard. Charlie Wyld had also gone to the station to meet me but missed me & followed me back to Savile Row to greet me on my arrival. We had tea together & sat & chatted. My 3 Italian servants arrived from Venice yesterday morning– The cook & 2 men servants—the latter bewildered with the new place & the strange language. I went to dine with the Bessboroughs 17 Cavendish Square as has been my wont on arriving in England for many years, from the time when Henry & I used to arrive in Queen Anne Street. Met the Oranmores & Mr Burton the Dr who is now over 82 & has had 2 paralytic strokes but seems now quite hearty again. Gweneth Ponsonby I saw for the first time since she came out. She is a very pretty girl & much admired.
