26 April 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 26th [April 1909]. Today took place our famous concert—or musical recital. It was a great success. Mr Byard sang splendidly & Mrs Hellman has a charming voice & sang with great agility. It was appreciated. The only contretemps was that Prof. Trombini did not accompany them well wh annoyed Byard. I prepared a bouquet wh we deputed Canon Ragg to present to Mrs H. The Sala was well filled & every one applauded warmly. We hope to make a good sum of money for the hospital & Sailor’s Institute. After it we all went to Florian’s café on the Piazza to have tea.
