5 June 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 5th [June 1909]. Mrs Forbes left by the early train for Paris– Augusta Gregory left at 10 a.m.—as did also my cook Sear who has been waiting some time. I went to see my lawyer Fanes today to ask him if he would get up a petition, wh I & all my friends will sign to the Municipio to remonstrate with the velocity with wh the steamers & launches go along the Gd Canal to the detriment of our houses & the steps of the houses. He said he wd first speak privately to the town authorities & if there is no improvement we will get up the petition. He also tells me he thinks this wd be the moment to buy the cottage we want near the hospital. So I told him to make the attempt.
