23 January 1910 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 23rd [January 1910]. Woke up to find the world white with snow which, however, turned to rain later on & became warmer—but I did not go out. Edward came to see me after morning church with Gweneth who returned yesterday from Sweden where she had accompanied Pss. Patricia of Connaught to stay with the Crown Pss. She had greatly enjoyed herself skiing, skating &c &c & seeing the Christmas festivities. Sir Arthur & Lady Fanshawe came to see me in the afternoon– He is a nice big friendly man. She is pale & frail looking & not very interesting. Molly Humphrey and Eda Alderson came to dine with us & we had much talk of the elections but of course we did not know the result of the last polls of today. Still the Unionists are making a brave fight & are already ahead of the Radicals if the Irish Members are left out of the counting.
