9 February 1910 — Cumberland Lodge, Windsor
Wednesday. 9th [February 1910]. Ash Wednesday. We breakfasted at 9.30. The old Prince who had had his breakfast came in in his red coat as he was going off to hunt. P. Albert talked of the Kaiser’s visits to Italy & asked me if I thought the Italians liked his going there. I answered frankly that I thought they were not pleased to see him so often as it put Italy to a great deal of expense. Princess Victoria & her brother & Miss Loch went off to play golf. Princess Christian took me to the station in the motor car & I returned to London by 11 o’c train & was home by 12.
