15 November 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 15th [November 1910]. We have been having the usual high tides of the season & they have been made higher these last days by a strong wind. So this evening no one came to my party except two German officers & 8 of the cadets. It was rather difficult work to entertain them but I undertook the officers & Nela & Eda divided the cadets between them. When at 11.30 the moment came for them to depart it was found that the streets all round us were inundated & the steamer had stopped running. However 2 gondolas were hailed from the traghetto & the officers managed to get away 5 in a gondola.
