24 June 1911 — Aboard Albion, Southampton
Saturday. 24th [June 1911]. The day of the great Naval Review. We did not move & could only see the King’s ship in the distance—but the illuminations last evening as a rehearsal & this evening’s were very splendid. Rather wild weather and very grey but fine effects on the sea. I rested a good deal in my cabin & was very idle having for once left all my bead work in London. The salute all along the lines as the King passed was very effective. Little Margaret Loeffler aged 4 our hosts’ only child was a great source of amusement to us all being a very nice but precocious child.
