2 June 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 2nd [June 1912]. A lovely morning & we went to morning service– As we came away we found a deluge of rain & a thunderstorm. Last evening I received a very bad account of the health of Pen Browning who is at Asolo so I made up my mind to go off tomorrow morning to see him & take Nurse Christie with me in case she should be wanted. I got hold of Mr Hulton coming out of church & he told me the best way of getting to Asolo by the Valsugana to Castelfranco so I telegraphed to Mr Young to say I am arriving tomorrow & begging for a carriage to meet me. I paid my usual Sunday morning visit to Angela Reinelt “après la messe” & she gave me black coffee & I went home from there. After lunch I went to see Mrs Curtis to tell her of my plans she being a great friend of Pen B’s. It is an effort to me to go tomorrow but I think I ought to do so I went to the Hospital to arrange about the Nurse meeting me at the station & looked in upon the Edens at their garden.
