Thursday. 2nd January [1862]. Connie is a little better but not able to get up. Maria walked over here to see us & Connie came into the schoolroom for 2 or 3 hours. Trenfield came back from her cousins today. We went to dine with the Aldersons. We met there Lord & Ly Robt Cecil. Arthur Stanley Milman the dean of St Paul & Mr & Mrs Colderidge.
