31 March 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Monday. 31st [March 1862]. Today Ecca, I & Milord went into town to do a little shopping; it was much warmer & went in the open carriage, when we got as far as the new Chelsea barracks it began to rain and we had to have the carriage shut. We 1st took Milord to Christy’s to get a hat where we met Flamanck. I then went to Hunt & R. to choose a locket for little Alice which I decided to be a gold locket with a turquoise cross. Ecca went to the Portland Bazaar and I went to Upper Portland Place to see Blossett, saw her, Mollie & Car. Triton. Near Longs on our way home we saw Arthur & asked him down to dinner—we got home at 6¼ & Arthur arrived at ½ past– We played whist in the eveng and A. left at 11–
