3 April 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Thursday. 3rd [April 1862]. This morning was lovely and we sat with the window open– Alice was crawling about while we were breakfasting and came & sat on my lap nearly the whole morng whilst I told her stories wh she pretended to understand in a wonderful way. At 12½ the poney carriage came to fetch us and Alice who had just been brought in from her walk got her dinner & was dressed to come with us– Maria & baby sat in front & I and Atwood sat behind and so managed very well coachman driving– They were rather cross with us for being late for luncheon– I had a letter from GKS & Car. I did not go out but practised. Had 5 oclock tea and Maria left about 6½. Dinner at 7½. I worked in the eveng and at 9½ Schr came. He had some supper, gave us news from Kön: that the M. had caught the fever but very mildly & bringing me a note from Ivor. to bed at 10½.
