10 September 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Wednesday. 10th [September 1862]. I washed china until half past 11 when I went to meet Car at the station in the dog cart. She came and stayed till 6. There was a tremendous row between Con: & Temmy. Car went to the train in the boat but not getting there in time she stayed till six– I drove to the station with her. When I returned I found Mr Lionel Ashley and Mr M. Corry had arrived– (Mr Fetherstonhaugh also came at 2 oclock.) We went up to show the gentlemen the racket-court & then we had dinner at 8. We sang in the eveng and I also played backgammon with Mr Ashley. We played 3 games and I was twice beaten– | |
