20 October 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 20th [October 1862]. When I came down they had all done breakfast—after breakfast Connie photod me & I her till luncheon. After luncheon I went to the school—called on Gerard, Miss Wareham & Mrs Pyne. I saw Mrs Pyne. She was a little better and then went and saw Mr P. in his office. Mrs Voss was also there. I then went to old Mrs Whitelocks and on home to tea in the hall. I then put up flowers & fruit in the epergne for the dinner table. At 7 Monty came. After we went to the servants hall & helped to unpack his china. I then listened to Monty’s singing and went with him to the smoking room where I did not remain long but came up to bed—but wrote till late into the night. | |
