23 October 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Thursday. 23rd [October 1862]. Monty and Merthyr both went out hunting and went off just as I came down—after breakfast I was photod by Connie and at 12 went up and printed with Blan: We finished off the 3rd No. of P.T. After lunch I went to the school and had Trenfield to come– Connie came there for me in the poney carriage but I happened to be at Miss Warehams. We drove to Wimborne by the Upper Oakley road and just as we got into Wimborne met our brothers with Mr Adye and Kelson. We went to Housdens and came back thro’ the drive. We then had tea and after tea we rushed about with the boys romping tremendously by all banging at each other. I then went and directed all the PTs and sent them by post. Merthyr went to town by mail and Ivor played some of his “Clintons flute music”– He was not at all well and I got him some Salvolatile before I went to bed– Con: sat with him some time. I wrote to FEB and sat up till 2.
