23 November 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Sunday. 23rd [November 1862]. Was rather earlier and had breakfast. Maria & I started for church together and caught up the M. who had gone on. We all went to Putney Church and had a sermon from a strange gentleman who preached in aid of the Benevolent Society, an extempore sermon & tho’ remarkable not good. In the aftern I & Blanche went to Roehampton Church & were very late & it was quite dark before we were home–
