4 December 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Thursday. 4th [December 1862]. Wrote some letters & washed some china for the M. till Lady A & Blossett came to lunch. They came at about 1. After lunch I brought down the baby & sat in the study with Bloss & Con. We were tremendously jolly and laughed quite immoderately. I went in next door & looked at all the rooms wh are nearly finished– We boiled chestnuts & made chocolate & had tea. Ecca came down to tea– Monty & Messrs Lionel Ashley & M. Corry came to dinner. I was rather late and sat next to Monty. We sang all the eveng & played & were very jolly. Lady A. left Blossett to sleep & dine here. We sang till 7 oclock when the young men left and I went & talked to Bloss in her room & we were not in bed till 2–
