10 December 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Wednesday. 10th [December 1862]. I, Kate, the M. & Maria drove in to town. I was left at the Brunswick Hotel in Princes St to see Fanny Arkwright whose mother is ill of a low fever. I stayed with her till 5 oclock till Kate came in, also little Alice and Alice Wigram. We had some tea & then the M. fetched us taking us to Portland Place. We stayed there some little time but did not leave Kate as at first arranged. I had a very bad head ache and could not go down to dinner. Kate sat up with me all the eveng. Saw Dr Julius in the morng–
