5 January 1863 — Uffington House, nr. Stamford, Lincolnshire
Monday. 5th [January 1863]. Blanche, Connie & M. & Schr left today and I spent all the morng playing billiards with Sir Rd. The M went over to Orton. Ivor whistled & sang a good deal & then went off by the 1 train– We were all at luncheon when in walked Sir Rd who had been for a walk to Tallington and Ivor, the latter too late & was going by the next train the M said we would walk– We went there with Mankey & Sir Rd walking together & chaffing—but Ivor of course was late & had to stop the night– The Musgraves got a telegram to say their cousin died on Sunday. I went & sat with Maria till dinner– Mr & Miss Hunt dined.
