5 March 1863 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Thursday. 5th [March 1863]. Breakfast in bed. Blossett came over from Marias to practise songs and I arranged my flowers. Went to town at 1.20. We went 1st to 34 Hertford St to see Lady Arkwright—only found Fanny & Mrs Ark: The M. left me with them & they took me out driving. We went to Garrards to see the Princess Alexandra’s jewels but there was such a crowd there we did not go in so went for a drive in the Park– We there saw Monty and then took Mrs Ark: home. I & Fanny went & had some ices at Gunters– We had some tea at Hertford St & Arthur Wigram came in & subsequently Rd Arkwright. The M. came for me rather late and on our return home found Mrs Glyn arrived & a letter from Lady L. Ponsonby enclosing 3 tickets for the nave of St Georges Chapel at Windsor– Trenfield was also here– It was a lovely day & we went all the way there & back in the open carriage—coming home it was bright moonlight– Blossett & Richard came in the eveng—& we had singing & playing– Bed at 11–
