8 March 1863 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Sunday. 8th [March 1863]. Down to breakfast. I & Mrs Glyn went to old Putney Church & Schr came after us—the rest went to St Johns– Very good extempore sermon from Mr Alderidge the new curate. After luncheon I sat with Mrs Glyn in my little room & between the hailstorms we went to Marias but finding her out saw only the children. We then came back & found Mr Divett here. He stayed till 5½ & the rest having returned from church we had 5 oclock tea– Maria & Rd came. We were just starting to go & see Baroness Hambro when Mrs Hambro and Miss St Quentin came in; they had some tea & sat with us a little while and then [we] accompanied them to the Barons where they were dining. We found the B. & Bss—Mr Clover, Reggie York & Charles Hambro there– We stayed ¼ hour & then came home to dinner– During dinner the M. read out of the Observer a long description of the yesterdays proceedings—of wh there was a long & minute account. Bed at 11–
