16 August 1863 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 16th August [1863]. Church in morng and after lunch I went round the house with Ivor & then on the river with him & Arthur to sail. The wind was so puffy that we were driven suddenly against a stump of a tree & a hole was punched in the side of the boat, we jumped out, put up the sails & came in. I went up & laid down till 5½ when we had tea in the hall. Lady Louisa & 4 children came & fell asleep. Church at 6½. Mr Ponsonby did the whole service. After dinner talked with Ivor, bed at 12–
