17 August 1863 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 17th [August 1863]. Not up very early & spent all the morng in putting up flowers & played the concertina with the M. We had lunch in the great hall and after lunch I went up & finished a bonnet I was altering for Kate & then played the concertina till tea. At 6 Lord & Lady Digby & 2 girls, Lord & Lady Rivers & 2 Miss Pitts came & we played croquet. At 7 Kate & Mrs Bentinck came, also Mr & Mrs Hartupp, Mr & Mrs Ashley Ponsonby & 2 Miss Gordons, Henry Arkt, Messrs Fletcher, Dyke Balfour (2 Miss B.), Norman, Glyn & several others. Mr Fletcher took me in to dinner & we danced till 2 oclock, I & Connie taking it by turns to play– | |
