16 December 1863 — Leeds Castle, Maidstone, Kent | |
Wednesday. 16th [December 1863]. We found it very slow only luckily Edith S. was very amusing & we talked to her. After lunch a large party came over from Linton. The Holmesdales, Felmers, Cravenes, IBG, Lord Hood etc. They were taken all over the house from the kitchen upwards & there was great fun & chaff. In the evening it was horribly slow. We played and sang Christy minstrels unfortunately having no music & went to bed pretty early. | |
