16 May 1864 — 11 Cavendish Square
Monday. 16th [May 1864]. I was called pretty early & had breakfast up stairs brought me by Blanche. At 10 I practised for Hallé on the schoolroom piano till 12 & at ¼ past Charles Hallé arrived to give me a music lesson. I played “Je suis Lindor” with him. At one oclock I took my lesson in Italian of Gordini till luncheon. Mr W. Welby & Miss Fane came to lunch also Manky & Ivory: I taught IBG some songs and at 3½ I went out with the M to buy Ivory some trays at the Baker St Bazaar and at 5½ I came in to drive with IBG in his phaeton. We went off at abt 6½ and drove thro’ the Park to Roehampton to see Maria. We found the Glyns staying there & Mr Glyn watering the things in the garden & IBG helped. We dined at 8 & 1st helped Maria to make the salad dressing. We had a very cheerful dinner & started home at abt ½ past 9 or 10 when we drove home & went to bed immediately I reached home.
