11 January 1865 — Haverland Hall, nr. Norwich, Norfolk | |
Wednesday. 11th [January 1865]. Late for breakfast. We worked all the morning. After lunch we took a walk round the grounds & gardens, went to the Temple of Wonder wrote our names & dined early. Col. White took me in to dinner, we had great fun & I laughed the whole time. He asked me to go & see the Tower of London where he is now quartered. We went to a ball at Norwich wh was very dull & the only people I knew there were Alice Gurney & the Hay Gurneys. I made acquaintance with Tom Hamond. | |
