18 September 1869 — Venice
Saturday. 18th [September 1869]. This day to my great regret we left Venice and at the station found the Torelli’s all waiting to take leave of us also Mr Brown who was most affecate and to whom I gave my photo: we went to Padua to the Aquila d’Oro Hotel. There we went about sightseeing and in the evening we left Hill and went on to Vicenza. At the station we were met by Cortelazzo the man who works in metals and made the bell Henry gave me, also set Henrys agate cup. We arranged he should come to breakfast in the morning & after some tea retired to bed.
