9 October 1869 — Rome | |
Saturday. 9th [October 1869]. Breakfast at 8 & left Rome by 9.50 train for Naples. We had an hour to wait at Ceprano. From there we luckily got a coupé to ourselves and had a very comfortable journey arriving at Naples at 6½. Sigr Alessandro Castellani met us at the station & got some one to see to our luggage while we got into a carriage & drove straight to the Hotel de Russie & got our dinner ½ over before other passengers arrived.
