26 December 1869 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 26th [December 1869]. Church in the morning. It was a very cold day & threatened to snow. After lunch had a visit from the Minister of the Interior. We mistook what Tomas said when he came in & fancied he was the Minister of Portugal wh lead us to ask him some questions wh must have been very absurd to him. When he was gone we went out for a walk round by the Palace and the Calle Mayor & were caught in a shower of sleet as we came home. No post in to day as the train was snowed up at Burgos; it was expected in the evening. | |
