21 February 1870 — Madrid | |
Monday. 21st [February 1870]. Mme Bauer came in afternoon with her little boy. I went out in the open carriage with Mme Riaño but Henry’s cold was so bad he cd not go out. We had our usual dinner party of 12. We had Figuerola (the Minister of ) Echegaray , Senr Lopez Dominguez, Senr Blas, Senr Moreno Benites, Blondeel, Lindstrand & Cerruti, Messrs Ff & Hunt. Mr Ash: was away shooting. After dinner some of these gentlemen’s wives came & some english & americans—but we could not get up any music. | |
