25 February 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 25th [February 1870]. We were up very late. Henry sent away “old Timothy” as he calls Marquez our professor & I wrote letters in the morng– In the afternoon Henry & I went for a drive but the rain drove us in. The new secretary Mr Seymour (son of Sir Hamilton) arrived. He came up to tea also Mr Ff. & Mr Ash:. Mme Mercier came to call & Mr Hunt came to sing, so when they were all gone we sang. Evening alone & we played mandola. | |
