13 March 1870 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 13th [March 1870]. I did not get up to breakfast—but I got up to go to church. Henry could not go as he was obliged to write for the post. I got a letter from Maria & also letters from her children. We went after lunch to fetch Mrs Hunt to go to the Concert at the Circus– It was immensely full & no box in the 1st tier empty except the Duke of Montpensiers. We had a very good selection & Monasterio led admirably. We walked home & bought a lot of violets on the road & bunches for 1d. We had tea & sat talking till the Hunts went home to dinner. Went early to bed– Messrs Ash & Seymour dined with us. | |
