1 April 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 1st April [1870]. I wrote a good deal in the morning despite constant interruptions & La Mariana came with laces she wanted me to buy. We lunched at ½ past 1 & just as we were going out Cerruti came in & took us in his carriage to Palmaroli’s where I was to have my first sitting for my portrait. Mme Bauer joined us there to give her opinion. I am being done in a square cut dark green velvet dress—a ½ length. I sat till after 4 when the carriage fetched us & we went & fetched Mme Riaño & left some cards & drove in the Fuente & then took her home. Mr Ffrench came in to tea. We dined alone & spent a quiet evening playing Mandola & I sang. | |
