19 April 1870 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 19th [April 1870]. Was not very well & had headache. However I struggled against it and we went to dine at the Bauers that is Henry & I—the M & S. the Genl & Mr Cole. Very pleasant dinner & we met the Hunts; one or two people came in the eveng. Mr Cole was delighted with all Mr Bauer’s fine things particularly a small wooden statue of a monk wh is supposed to be by Alonso Cano. I was glad to get home early. | |
