21 May 1870 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 21st [May 1870]. I put the bird in a better cage & saw after the plants we had brought & wh were put in the courtyard. At 12 I went to Palmaroli’s to sit for my picture again & at 2 Henry fetched me home. Mr Riaño came in during lunch time to talk about the sale of the Zaragoza Virgin del Pilar’s ornaments. I had a good deal of writing to do in a great hurry for Henry & I spent the afternoon in writing till 5 when we had tea & afterwards went for a ride in the Casa de Campo where we met Mr Mercier & his boy Brosé & rode with them. We also met the Karnickys driving & Mme Bauer driving with her children & Mrs Hunt. We took rather a short ride & got home at 7.30—dined alone & played mandola & also the piano. | |
