22 September 1870 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 22nd [September 1870]. At 3 oclock we went in the carriage & called at the Bernar’s house. Mme B & her boy & girl came with me & Henry went with Mr B. It is abt an hours drive to the Alameda. We went over the house to see the Goyas of wh there are some very pretty specimens & went all round the gardens & on the canal &c. & came in to take some tea. We stayed there till dark & then went back in the same order as we came. Too tired to go to the Dss’s reception tonight. | |
