7 December 1870 — Madrid
Wednesday. 7th [December 1870]. This morning I went to breakfast at the Regency but found the Dss very “distraida” on account of a great dinner she was occupied with, that they are giving to the Ministers to celebrate the King’s acceptance of the Throne. Adeline came to fetch me away. The Dss showed us the state apartments wh are now nearly finished. As soon as Adeline & I got home the Dss’ children came to call & to amuse them Adeline & I made them dance jigs & reels. At ¼ to 5 A & I went to tea at Mr Goschens lodgings & met Mr Ash: there. At 6 I had a lesson of Inzenga & then he stayed to dinner & the Hunts also came & Mr Goschen in the eveng. We had some music & Arthur sang comic songs–
