8 December 1870 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 8th [December 1870]. In the afternoon Adeline Henry & I went to the Dss’s to see the children’s ball—& I helped the Dss to amuse the children & to make them dance jigs &c—& came home tired. In the eveng we three went to the Opera in the stalls to see “Sapho” given for the last time & Ferni acted splendidly but her voice is weaker than ever. We walked there & back– | |
