18 December 1870 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 18th [December 1870]. My head was better but I did not get up till afternoon– Mme de Martino came to church & afterwards came & saw me in bed & after lunch went with Henry & Adeline to Monasterio’s concert & then came back to tea here, also Mr Blanc & Mr Sonnino. Mme de la Rochefoucauld (Mrs Cavendish that was) came to call on me & ask how I was as I had not gone to her last night with the others. Later the Hunts came. The Legation, Mr Doria & Mr Spencer dined & Palmaroli looked in after dinner. | |
