15 January 1871 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 15th [January 1871]. Adeline & I went to church. Henry’s cold kept him away but Mr Goschen came with us. Mr Whyte came up & saw me after church & then we had luncheon & then were off to the Concert with Henry the Arthurs & Mr Goschen. Monasterio played well but had dreadful chilblains & said he had great difficulty in playing. Messrs Ash, Sey, G & Spen: dined with us & in the eveng we did Acrostics all the eveng till we suddenly found it was just past 12 & so we bustled off to bed. | |
