23 February 1871 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 23rd [February 1871]. We hung pictures in my room all the morning & had a great dusting & arranging of the room & then I wrote to Blanche. Dull day & I did not go out. Had visits from Mme Ettling & also Mme Quesada & her mother & sister. Henry went out riding on the Arab we bought of Mercier. After 5 the Marqueses of Monistrol & his sister called on us. Mr Gayangos & the Riaños & Mr Ff: dined with us, & at 10½ we went to the Presidencia. There were not many people there. | |
