17 March 1871 — Madrid | |
Friday. 17th [March 1871]. We went for a long ride in the Casa de Campo & I got rather tired—my vaccinated arm also rather hurt. Emilia & Mr Gay dined with us & we went afterwards to Mr Ernesti’s concert at the Salon del Conservatorie which was a great failure, there only being abt 50 people there. A pupil of Monasterio “Renz” played the violin– Merecki the violincello played very well—& Perrotti sang twice—he has rather a good voice—but he bellows too much– | |
