1 April 1871 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 1st April [1871]. I got up only just in time to have my drawing lesson of Grau but Mme Canitz did not join me. After luncheon Henry & I went off to Palmaroli’s studio & I sat till ½ past 4 that he might make a few alterations in my portrait. I did not go out any more but Henry went riding. Mr Ernesti came to call & gave me a [illegible word] he had dedicated to me & said he intended to settle here. Mme Molins also called & as soon as she was gone Bernadine came in intending to sing the Trio over with me, we were prevented by the Dss de la T. & Conchita coming in. She came to talk over yesterday’s Court & to tell me she approved of my train. We dined quietly alone & I went early to bed but Henry went to the La Rochefoucaulds to play whist. | |
